Welcome!

Hello!  Welcome to our blog. Growing up we were always told our lives would make a great sitcom. But sharing our lives through a sitcom is just a bit harder than writing a blog... so we've decided to start here. In this shared blog, us Chun sisters will cover a wide variety of different topics in our lives. Careers, family life, relationships, beauty (or lack thereof), and everything in between.  So if you wanna get to know us, or maybe just really bored and seeking entertainment, read on!

Not Two Halves of a Whole

By Ally  Let me preface this by saying I am not a relationship expert whatsoever. I may not be the most qualified to be writing about relationships (or qualified at all), but I'm going to do it anyway. I would also like to state that this is my opinion and I would welcome and respect other perspectives. That being said, let's get down to it.  I HATE when people refer to their partners as "their other half" or that "they are two halves of a whole". To me, these tend to be the same people breaking up "because they need to work on themselves". Having someone be your other half implies that by yourself you are not complete. This doesn't make sense. Because, given that you are with your partner now, you were able to survive and live on your own up until meeting this person. To me, this is evidence enough that you are complete by yourself.  This being said, I do believe that people in relationships can and should make each others lives better. But r...

The Rule of Threes - Growing up a Middle Child

By Ally  There has been a ton of research on personality traits developed by birth order. While I do not know much about this subject, I thought it would be interesting to compare these theories with my own experience as a middle child.  Alfred Adler came up with his birth order theory, which attempts to understand personality traits that may be based on birth order. One of the most commonly known segments of this theory is "middle child syndrome." The Middle Child Syndrome is the idea that children born in the middle of their siblings can often feel neglected or overshadowed, but also becomes the peacemaker of the family. Sandwiched between the baby of the family and the first born child, the middle child can often feel lost.  I can see where this theory comes from, however, in my case it was never entirely true. My parents did a good job at making us all feel equally loved. In my case, I never felt overshadowed, but because of our differing personalities and inter...

30 Day Abs & Squat Challenge - Midpoint Update

By Ally So as you know, I recently started a 30 day abs & squat challenge . I am about halfway through the challenge now and have already started seeing results. Now this challenge isn't supposed to be some crazy fat burning and muscle building miracle. But I do see some significant differences in my muscle tone of my abs and quads.  I initially went into the challenge thinking it would be easy, but I neglected how out of shape I really have gotten in quarantine. While I have actually lost weight throughout the pandemic, most of the weight I had lost was all my muscle mass. Because of this, the challenge has proved to be more difficult than I earlier anticipated. I have been able to complete each of the days workouts, but some of the days do leave me more out of breath than I would have liked. I have become more compelled to continue to workout after the challenge is over.  What I did not realize and found very interesting about this challenge is that the last day i...

Saying Goodbye to a Piece of Chun Family History

By Ally  In October of 1994, Walter came home with my mom and dad. Since then, he has become a very integral part of our family. He has found a way into all of our hearts throughout the years. He has been a reliable and loyal companion, always doing his best to get us to work and school on time and safe. He did his best for as long as possible. But as he crept into old age, we noticed more things needing care and tending to. He spent more and more time sitting around. We could no longer take him on long trips with us in fear of overexerting him. We knew his time was coming soon.  Despite all the preventative care, letting him go became inevitable. This week we made the hard decision to put him to rest. We all will miss the adventures we had with Walter. He was there through it all. The soccer games and dance practices. The trips around the town while we were learning how to drive. The good days and the bad days. He had such an impact on not only our lives, but the lives ...

30 Day Abs and Squat Challenge

By Ally Chun Last Sunday, I decided to start a 30 day ab and squat challenge that I found on the internet. I figured that this would be a good way to get myself up and moving, even if its only a little bit. With the quarantine and moving back home, I have been unable to go to the gym and have been struggling to get a consistent workout routine down. With this challenge, I hope to bring a little consistency back which will hopefully get me motivated to work out again.  The Challenge The challenge is not so much of a challenge, especially for those who are in shape. For me, I am using this challenge as more of a toning for my body as well as to ease back into exercising.  Day 1 10 Sit-ups/ 10 Crunches/ 25 Squats Day 2 20 Sit-ups/ 15 Crunches/ 30 Squats Day 3 5 Sit-ups/ 20 Crunches/ 35 Squats Day 4 10 Sit-ups/ 25 Crunches/ 40 Squats   Day 5 5 Sit-ups/ 10 Crunches/ 20 Squats Day 6 15...

What is Technical Recruiting?

By Nikki To be honest... I'm still trying to figure it out. The dictionary definition of a Technical Recruiter  is:  a position that falls under the umbrella of Human Resource Specialist – is a  Recruiter  who specializes in finding candidates to fill  technical  jobs, such as jobs in information technology and engineering.  Technical  Recruiters are a unique breed of  recruiter . - Job Hero But I have found that there are so many different aspects to learn as it pertains to technical recruiting.  Let me rewind. I started my career as a Recruiting Coordinator for the Engineering Recruiting team. I was responsible for scheduling, greeting and hosting candidates when they made it to the "onsite stage" of the interview. At my company, this stage includes a technical presentation and 5-6 1:1 technical interviews with the team members. I had to ensure that the logistics of the day went smoothly. But this gave me a really unique look into the...

Childhood Best Friends

By Nikki The ones that stay... There are certain friends that despite all odds, you never lose touch - some may call them a childhood best friend. Not everyone is as lucky as I am to have that type of friend. I met Jeni when I was 3 years old. She lived across the street from me and one day, on a walk with my mother and Ally, we bumped into this other 3 year old girl who, I can't remember what exactly we talked about, but we were instant best friends.  20 years later, she's not just my best friend, but another one of my sisters. We've only fought maybe a total 5 times throughout the years, and she has been there for every one of my major milestones. Her and her family come over to our holiday get-togethers, are invited to our cousins' birthdays and we've even taken vacations together.  Our journeys have parted before though. We went to different high schools and colleges, but we never lost touch. And now that we have both graduated, we are as close as ever.  The one...
